How to Build a Meaningful Gift
One of the questions I hear most often is, "What should I get?"
The answer usually starts with two simple questions: Why am I giving this gift? And who am I giving it to?
A birthday gift is different from a hostess gift. A thank-you gift is different from a retirement gift. The occasion gives you a starting point, but the person is what makes the gift meaningful.
Think about what they enjoy. What do they spend their free time doing? What makes them smile? What are they passionate about?
The best gifts often come from paying attention to the little things. Maybe it's a favorite scent, a love of tea, a hobby they've mentioned several times, or a color they always seem to gravitate toward. Those small details can turn an ordinary gift into one that feels personal.
I also think presentation matters. A handwritten note, beautiful packaging, or a thoughtful finishing touch tells someone you took the time to make the moment feel special.
And that's really what thoughtful gifting is all about.
It's not about spending the most money. It's about making someone feel seen.
When you start with the occasion and then think about the person, finding the right gift becomes a whole lot easier.
